Sawmill Operative / Yard Operative – South Cerney
People Solutions are currently recruiting for a Sawmill Operative / Yard Operative – South Cerney to join our well-established client based in South Cerney.
This is a fantastic hands-on opportunity offering ongoing work, a temp-to-perm opportunity and an increased rate of pay once permanent. This role would suit candidates with previous experience as a Labourer, Production Operative, Warehouse Operative, Site Worker or Yard Operative, although full training will be provided.

Shifts
• Monday to Thursday: 7:00am – 6:00pm
• Friday: 7:00am – 4:00pm
Rates of Pay
• £12.74 per hour

Day-to-Day Duties
Your duties as a Sawmill Operative / Yard Operative will include:
• Assisting with the processing of timber through the sawmill
• Loading and unloading timber and materials
• Feeding timber into machinery safely and efficiently once trained
• Learning to operate a range of sawmill machinery
• Stacking and preparing finished timber for storage or dispatch
• Checking timber for quality and ensuring products meet the required standards
• Keeping the yard and work areas clean, tidy and organised
• Following all site health and safety procedures
• Working as part of a team to meet daily production requirements
• Working both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
Essential Skills
As a Sawmill Operative / Yard Operative, you will need:
• A good work ethic and positive attitude
• Willingness to learn new skills
• Good communication skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Physically fit and comfortable carrying out manual work
• Prepared to work in a busy industrial environment
• Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
Desirable Experience
• Previous experience as a Labourer, Production Operative, Warehouse Operative, Site Worker or Yard Operative would be advantageous but is not essential
Training Provided
• Full industry-related training provided
• Training on the safe use and operation of sawmill machinery
• Ongoing support and development throughout your assignment
